The Greek Orthodox Board of Education of our Archdiocese in Australia this evening presented the 6th Annual Award Ceremony for Excellence in the previous year’s Higher School Certificate exams by students of our Greek Orthodox Day Schools in New South Wales.
The much anticipated event was held in the Great Hall of St Andrew’s Theological College on Wednesday 20th February 2019. The keynote address was given by His Grace Bishop Seraphim of Apollonia, representing His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos, whilst the Consul General for Greece in Sydney, the Hon. Christos Karas, spoke on the importance of the Greek language. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Mrs Amelia Katsogiannis.
Representing St Spyridon Parish at this prestigious event were our Parish Priest Father Steven Scoutas, the President of the Parish Board Dr Thomas Savoulis, the Head of College Mrs Efrosini Stefanou, the Deputy Head of College Mrs Amelia Katsogiannis, the Principal of the Junior School Mrs Aristea Synesios, together with teachers, students and parents of St Spyridon College.
Students from the three Archdiocesan schools, St Spyridon College, St Euphemia College and All Saints Grammar, achieved excellent results in the 2018 public exams and were rewarded appropriately by the Board of Education.
The Top Achiever of the Archdiocese this year was student Rhea Tsimboukis from St Spyridon College with an Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking (ATAR) of 99.60.
Congratulations to the students from all three Colleges in NSW who were recognized either as Top Achievers in Year, or as Top Achievers in Course, or as HSC All Rounders, or as Distinguished Achievers, or for Excellence in HSC.
The gratitude of the GOBE was expressed to the donors and sponsors who have been supporting the Award Ceremony for the past six years, as well as the women of the Central Philoptochos Committee who served the attendees with their usual warmth.
THE GREEK ORTHODOX DAY SCHOOLS SYSTEM IS THRIVING IN AUSTRALIA, BY GOD’S GRACE
